About the owners

WW Feed & Supply Inc. is owned by the Ryan Davis estate. Davis, a Las Animas native, first worked in the feedlot industry. He joined WW Feed & Supply LLC as operations/compliance manager in 2016. He purchased the business in August 2019. Davis was president and business owner at the time of his semi accident and untimely death on March 31, 2023.

History of the Store

The business roots of WW Feed & Supply started as a hatchery.

In 1947, Efton & Juanita Duncan and A.C. Milburn formed Duncan & Milburn Inc. Hatchery. Originally opening in Swink, they moved a year later to La Junta. By 1952, the business name was changed to Duncan Feed & Hatchery and moved to 414 West 1st Street in La Junta, into a new two-story building the Duncan family built to house their business on the first floor and their two-bedroom home on the second floor. In 1957, they leased the old Santa Fe Railroad building at 303 West 1st Street (today's site) and changed their business name first to Duncan Feeders Supply and later to Duncan Products Co. The store’s first grain elevator and scale were added during this period.

In 1980, Doyle & Viola Winters purchased the business and renamed it WW Feeds Inc. It was successfully run by just the Winters family, then operated with partners, and finally ownership and daily operations returned to Doyle & Viola. Curtis Russell was a Consolidated Nutrition consultant for a territory including WW Feeds Inc. and discovered that the couple wanted to retire. Curt & Susan Russell purchased the business in 2000. To make the switch more convenient for customers, they kept a portion of the name - changing it to WW Feed & Supply LLC.

Under Curt & Susan Russell’s ownership, the business was expanded and modernized. The Russell family boosted the business from 1 employee to 10 team members, including an on-staff nutritionist; and they added an entire fleet of semitrucks & trailers - allowing them to haul nearly all ag products, including bags and bulk dry feed, liquid feed, grain, cubes and cattle.

With the enormous growth, Curt & Susan revamped the mill, upgraded the warehouse and ramps, added in two more storage site options to handle demand, added a tack room and renovated the main showroom area. For merchandise, they added numerous new products, such as: Mix 30 liquid feed, Arrowquip and Powder River equipment, and Giant Rubber Tire Tanks. The Russell’s developed a moto: If it Eats, We Can Feed it” and excelled in creating and balancing custom rations, which helped propelled them to being named one of ADM Animal Nutrition’s top feed dealers nationwide.

As cattle ranchers who already used AI & ET technology, Curt & Susan added an AI service through Select Sires MidAmerica for their WW Feed & Supply customers. They also offered a Steer-Aid program for youth; and, for 15 years (March 2003-October 2017) they served as the official feed & bedding concessionaire at the Colorado State Fair and off-season horse and livestock shows.

As the Russell's kicked off the start of their 20th year, employees Ryan Davis and Robby Froman purchased the successful business. Davis and Froman changed the official name to WW Feed & Supply Inc. A year later Ryan Davis became sole proprietor.

The office, warehouse and custom mill burned to the ground in a fire in October 2022, but Ryan and his family continued to offer livestock feed to its customers and began plans to rebuild. Then a second tragedy struck. Ryan was killed when he was enroute to pick up a bulk feed order and the wind caught his rig. He was killed instantly on March 31, 2023, and is greatly missed.

The estate has operated WW Feed & Supply Inc. for its final year. WW Feed & Supply Inc. closed March 31, 2024.
